My interest in wine started after a visit to a local Dutch winery, roughly 10 years ago. At the 2-year sommelier training in the Netherlands, I was more interested in the chapters about wine making, viticulture and wine chemistry, than memorizing what the soil composition is and what the used grape varietals are in a certain village in Southern Italy.
After successfully finishing the sommelier training of the Dutch Wine Guild (Dutch: Vinoloog), the first wine that I made from local Dutch grapes revealed that I still had a lot to learn. So much has changed since then :-)
