Welcome to the Van der Lee vineyard, Temecula Valley, California
Located on East Benton road, next to the Tucalota hills and overlooking the wineries on Rancho California road, the Van der Lee Vineyard spans 5 acres and offers wine enthusiasts a unique variety of experiences, from contemporary wine tasting at one of the nearby wineries to an insider glimpse of the vineyard life style, all in the ambient atmosphere of Temecula Wine country.
Grape growing is our passion. Soil, climate, and vineyard practices are reflected in the flavors and quality of the wine that our grapes produce. We use professional vineyard management for our 12 year-old Cabernet Sauvignon vines, and prefer sustainable practices to assure excellent vineyard care in harmony with our surroundings.
The influence of afternoon Pacific Ocean inland breezes, our elevation at 1800 feet, and higher surrounding mountains, make that temperatures are generally cooler than in the adjacent areas. The climate zone for Temecula is UC Davis Region III, similar to the Rhône valley in France, and well suited for full bodied red as well as sweet wines.
Our vineyard layout is set up in rows running from East to West, while sloping downward. This ensures optimal sun exposure to the vines.
Decomposed granite is the main component of the soil, providing excellent drainage. The vines need deep roots to reach water and minerals, perfect for limiting excessive vine vigor and producing well balanced and varietally true wines.
The family occasionally allows the owner's estate (3700 sqft, 4 bedrooms, 3 bathrooms) to be available as vacation rental. Please contact us for more information.
